FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Vinnie Shahid had 21 points and Tyson Ward made a version with 1.4 seconds to help North Dakota State beat South Dakota 72-70 Wednesday night.
The ward finished with 14 points – 11 in the second half – and five help them. There were 18 career points at Tyree Eady for the State of North Dakota (12-6, 3-1 League Summit), who earned the fifth consecutive home victory.
The Coyotes were in charge of their size and 12 points before using NDSU running 25-6 – including eight points from Eady and Shahid – to take a 41-34 half-time leader.
Stanley Umude of South Dakota set to make it all 70 at 1:09 to play. After Shahid lost 3 point shot 29 seconds later, Cameron Hunter took a fee to establish a Ward game winner.
Umude had 23 points and nine redistributed to the Coyotes (11-8, 2-3). Tyler Hagedorn added 21 points. Triston Simpson had 10 points and six helpers.
North Dakota plays North Dakota at home on Saturday. South Dakota is the State of South Dakota at home on Sunday.
