The transfer poker for Jadon Sancho (20) between Borussia Dortmund and Manchester United seems to have stalled. According to “Bild”, the English are already in agreement with the wing runabout. Now the Dortmunders have apparently hired a mediator to help. It is player agent Marco Lichtsteiner, brother of Nati captain Stephan Lichtsteiner.
Lichtsteiner has already handled BVB transfers
The point of contention is the transfer fee: Dortmund does not want to move away from the required 120 million euros – the “Red Devils” do not want to pay that much. This is where Marco Lichtsteiner comes into play. He has already helped with several Dortmund transfers in recent years. Lichtsteiner was allegedly involved in Ousmane Dembélé’s (23) moves to FC Barcelona and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (31) to Arsenal.
According to “Sport Bild”, the Swiss have a good relationship with BVB sports director Michael Zorc (57) and is considered to be excellent in the industry. He also maintains good contacts in England. He knows Emeka Obasi, Sancho’s advisor, personally as a long-term partner.
“So far there is no contact”
The transfer is currently only being processed in the background, as the two clubs are not negotiating as of now. This is also confirmed by BVB managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke (61). “So far there has not been any contact between Borussia Dortmund and Manchester United in matters of Sancho,” Watzke made unmistakably clear in an interview with the “Süddeutsche Zeitung” – “not even indirectly or through alleged intermediaries.”
The tug-of-war shouldn’t last too long. Everything has to be clear by the start of the training camp in Bad Ragaz SG on August 10, otherwise Sancho will stick to “black and yellow”. Dortmund’s sports director Zorc also expects to stay: “I assume that Jadon will go to the training camp on Monday and play with us for the coming season.” (smi)
