The state of Michoacán has seen the birth of great personalities in the history of the country, among musicians, writers, performing artists, actors and actresses. Such is the case of Susana Guízar, actress and singer from Pátzcuaro, Michoacán, who was very famous during the 1940s. He worked alongside great actors of Mexican cinema such as Fernando Soler, Pedro Armendáriz, Pedro Infante and René Cardona, to name a few.
Susana was born on August 17, 1922 in the state of Michoacán. He grew up in a family of artists, as his cousins Pepe Guízar Morfín and Tito Guízar were composer and singer respectively. It is rumored that during one of her stays in the United States she met the Cuban actor, producer, director and screenwriter René Cardona, who introduced her to the cinematographic world and who later became one of her most constant co-workers, either sharing the big screen or acting under your direction.
The peak of his career occurred in the 1940s, since during this period he made more than half of his filmography; 1942 was one of his best years as he shared the screen with Pedro Infante, René Cardona and Emma Roldán in the film Jesusita in Chihuahua, made by Cardona and Zacarías Gómez Urquiza. That same year he participated in the film Del rancho a la capital, by Raúl de Anda, with Pedro Armendáriz, Domingo Soler and Manolo Fábregas. Likewise, he was also part of the cast of Alejandra, by José Benavides Jr., where he acts alongside Arturo de Córdova and Sara García.
In 1946, he was part of the cast of the film El socio, by Roberto Gavaldón, nominated for an Ariel for Best Adapted Screenplay, and where he shares credits with Gloria Marín, Nelly Montiel and Hugo Carril. In Señora Tentación (1948) he acts under the direction of José Díaz Morales and shares credits with David Silva, Ninón Sevilla and Kiko Mendive.
Years later he decides to abandon his artistic career, but before that he has a participation in the film Poker of aces (1952) directed by his friend René Cardona.
After her last performance, Susana Guízar decided to spend her life away from the public eye and finally passed away on June 3, 1997.
