The 51 million Ferrari Daytona SP3 received the most powerful internal combustion engine in the brand’s history. All 599 pieces already have their owner

  • Ferrari has revealed the third member of the Icona series. Daytona SP3 comes after the Monza SP1 and SP2 models

  • The carmaker will produce 599 pieces. The basic price is 51 million and the whole series is already sold out

  • The Daytona SP3 gets the most powerful internal combustion engine ever used in a Ferrari model designed for normal operation

  • The car is powered by a twelve-cylinder fork with parameters of 840 hp and 697 Nm

In 2018, Ferrari introduced the first two members of the Icona series. These were the Monza SP1 and SP2 models. In total, only 499 pieces were created, if we add both variants. Ferrari has currently introduced the third member of this series. Carried the Daytona SP3, it’s even more powerful, but also more expensive. By 2024, 599 copies will be produced, all of which already have owners.

As with the Monza SP1 / SP2 models, the designers were looking for inspiration in the past. The appearance of the novelty refers to the racing specials 330 P3 / 4, 330 P4 and 412 P, which dominated the 24-hour race in Daytona in the late 1960s. The novelty also refers to other racing machines, such as the 350 Can-Am or 512 S. A reminder of the successful history are the distinctive fenders protruding from the front hood, low bow, large windshield or intake vents located in the door. An interesting specialty are the headlights equipped with sliding covers.

When valued customers make their dreams come true: Ferrari has revealed another unique feature built according to the ideas of the future owner

Aerodynamics also played a key role in the development of this model. The Daytona SP3 got a larger front spoiler, but otherwise the body is beautifully sleek without other significant features. The downforce is largely created under the car by a solution that uses a pair of ducts directing air from the chassis to the “blinds” at the rear. The five-spoke discs feature custom-built Pirelli P Zero Corsa 265/30 ZR 20 front and 345/30 ZR 21 rear tires.

The interior, which is dominated by sports fixed seats, also refers to history. In front of the steering wheel, the driver finds a curved display of 16 ″, using the controls on the steering wheel, you can control 80% of the car’s functions. Of course, the interior also features carbon or a stylish gear selector reminiscent of a previously used shift backdrop.

Although Ferrari developed state-of-the-art materials and technologies from the F1 series, the engine remained traditional. The atmospherically filled 6.5-liter twelve-cylinder does not use any electrical assistance. It is based on the 812 Competizione model and, thanks to a number of other modifications, offers parameters of 840 hp and 697 Nm. It is thus the most powerful combustion power unit ever seen in Ferrari cars intended for normal operation. The transmission is a two-speed seven-speed and there is a self-locking differential on the rear axle. The Daytona SP3 fires at 100 km / h in 2.85 seconds, needs only 7.4 km at 200 km / h and has a top speed of 340 km / h.

Although, unlike the Ferrari Monza SP1 / SP2, more units are produced, regular customers have actually received only one hundred copies. According to Automotive News, all 499 owners of Monza models agreed with the offer from Ferrari and also ordered a new Dayton SP3 in their garage. Potential candidates who did not get it, but are not completely without a chance. It is very likely that over the years, a piece will appear for sale as “used”. In similar cases, however, the prices of such cars are much higher than what the carmaker originally sold them for. The Ferrari Daytona SP3 price starts at 51 million crowns without tax.

The first owners will receive their Ferrari Daytona SP3 in the last quarter of next year, all 599 units should be ready by the end of 2024.
