The Arrest of 2 Supreme Court Justices Great Shock for the World of Justice

Chief Justice of the Supreme Court (MA) Syarifuddin alluded to the bribery case of two Supreme Court judges. According to him, the case was a great shock to the world of justice.

“In the midst of the crisis of public trust that we are facing, the incident of the arrest of two Supreme Court judges and several Supreme Court operators is a major shock to the world of justice,” Syarifuddin said at the 70th Anniversary of the Indonesian Association of Judges, Monday (20/3/2023) .

Syarifuddin said the case had also become a bad history for the course of the Indonesian judiciary. He also realized that it would not be easy to rebuild public trust in judges. Nevertheless, Syarifuddin stressed that the Supreme Court would never give up.

“And it is a bad history for the course of the Indonesian judiciary. I realize that it is not easy to rebuild public trust,” he said.

“I realize that it is not easy to rebuild public trust, but the Supreme Court and judicial bodies will never give up to continue to make improvements in this institution,” added Syarifuddin.

Nevertheless, Syarifuddin asked for suggestions and input from various parties so that efforts to improve the judiciary could run smoothly

“However, despite this, it is very necessary to have suggestions and input from various parties, including from academics from national figures and the community so that improvement efforts can be carried out quickly through the involvement of various parties,” he said.

For information, two Supreme Court justices were caught in a bribery case. The two Supreme Court judges were suspected of accepting bribes in the case of handling cases at the Supreme Court. Apart from the two Supreme Court justices, a number of Supreme Court employees were involved in the case.
