President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) uploaded a moment when residents welcomed his arrival at the Berkesan Maritime Market, Ternate City, North Maluku. Interestingly, there are residents who climb trees to see Jokowi.
Jokowi uploaded the moment through his Instagram account, Wednesday (28/9/2022). In the photo he uploaded, Jokowi is seen wearing a white shirt.
A crowd of residents was seen beside Jokowi. Some waved, and some pointed their cellphone cameras.
The big tree behind the residents also attracts attention netizen. Because, a number of residents seemed to be on a tree to welcome Jokowi’s arrival. The residents above the tree were seen smiling when they saw Jokowi’s arrival.
“The community and traders welcomed me with joy, I also came happily,” said Jokowi.

Jokowi then explained his reasons for visiting the Memorable Maritime Market. He provided social assistance and basic necessities to traders.
“Visited the Memorable Maritime Market in Ternate City, North Maluku, today while providing social assistance and basic necessities for traders. Thank you Ternate residents,” he said.
Residents Happy to Meet Jokowi
Based on a written statement from the Press Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat, Jokowi arrived at the Berkesan Maritime Market at around 07.54 WIT. Jokowi was welcomed by the Mayor of Ternate Tauhid Soleman and the Head of the Ternate City Industry and Trade Office Muhlis S Djumadil. Jokowi’s presence was greeted with joy by the traders.
Meril, one of the traders at the market, said he was very happy to meet Jokowi in person. He was even touched because he had the opportunity to shake hands directly with the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia.
“From the start I was praying, ‘O Allah, when will Pakde come here?’ I can meet, I can hold hands, thank God, God,” said Meril.
Another trader, Halimah, also felt the same joy, who had never seen a president in person before. He also felt proud because the President of the Republic of Indonesia came to the city of Ternate, which he loved very much.
“We are very proud that the President came to Ternate City. I thank you very much. So far we have never seen the President, so today we are also happy,” he said.
“We also convey, because we are a small community, and my friends ask that if possible, please don’t increase it again – even though fuel prices go up – don’t increase basic ingredients,” he added.
Another resident, Nurlani, shared a different story and hope. In front of Jokowi, Nurlani told about her husband who was sick so he could no longer earn a living.
“My husband has been sick for a long time, sir. Then I go to church every day and peel onions at the market. You ask, ‘Where is her husband?’ I said, ‘My husband is at home, he can no longer earn (a living)’. Finally I worked peeling onions,” she said.
“A message for you, I hope you will be given a lot of sustenance because I can’t repay your kindness,” he added.
Also accompanying Jokowi on the visit to the market were Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah, Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia, and Governor of North Maluku Abdul Ghani Kasuba.
