Officers calmed the 350-pound animal, pulled it out and took it to a shelter. It was later relocated to the Cleveland Amory Black Beauty Ranch in Murchison, Texas, where more than 800 other animals, including two tigers, followed.
"The ranch has a five-hectare, natural habitat complex modeled on a natural environment that will be the new home of the tiger until a decision is made on permanent custody," the Humane Society said.
While Tyson appears to be in good health, he has been quarantined for at least two weeks, said BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions in Houston.
Tyson learns to walk on grass and dances carefully under the watchful eye of his new fans in his enclosure.
The case is under investigation and it is not clear if someone is charged with possessing a tiger.
