Totalcar – Magazine – You can get an upgraded version of the new Astra

Opel also seems to be riding the off-roading trends so popular today. There are currently two official versions of the latest Astra released this year: a five-door hatchback and a station wagon. A subspecies of these two versions could be the crossovered Astra.

Other manufacturers have long produced such, mainly optically field-capable versions. There’s Corolla Trek, Golf Alltrack, or Focus Active. Opel can now enter this brunch with the new Astra.

It has not yet been revealed how deeply the change will affect the car, but the well-proven recipe from other manufacturers seems realistic, which is mainly about aesthetics. It is likely that more unpolished exterior plastic, increased clearance and tiny exterior and interior accessories will make the difference, as with the Insignia Country Tourer if the model version comes into production.

It is less likely, but there may even be a chance, that following the spirit of the Corolla Cross, a completely new, completely different version of the Astra could be made. This would no longer be a transformation of the base model, but another type that would only share its name with the base Astra.

In terms of engine range, the current offer is likely to remain: 1.2-liter, turbo petrol, 1.5-liter diesel and plug-in hybrid, 1.6-liter petrol.
