Yosra Fraoues was elected yesterday, Sunday, April 15, 2018, president of the Tunisian Association of Democratic Women (ATFD), one of the oldest women’s rights associations in Tunisia.
The elections for the new AFTD Executive Board were held on the occasion of the 12 e Congress of the Association for Women’s Rights, which took place from April 13 to 15, and brought to the presidency Yosra Fraoues, a lawyer of her state and former member of the committee of experts of the High Authority of the achievement of the goals of the revolution (Hiror), in 2011.
Here are the composition of the bureau after the votes: Neila Zoghlami (General Secretary), Samia Ben Messoud (Treasurer), Youâd Ben Rejeb (Communications Officer), Cherifa Tlili (in charge of the Commission to Combat Violence) Nabila Hamza (external relations), Najoua Baccar (economic and social rights), Tamna Tabib (legal affairs) and Samar Sehik (education and culture).
Recall that the ATFD was founded in 1989 and has always supported the rights and freedoms of Tunisian women and gender equality in Tunisia. In 2012, the Association won the Simone de Beauvoir Prize for women’s freedom.
