11

Thunderstorms will cause "heavy rains" in parts of Britain.

Weather warnings have been issued indicating that there is a possibility that homes and businesses could be flooded.

The Met Office Alert is in effect until 22:00 on Sunday evening, and on Monday there is a second warning from 11:00 to 22:00.

The warning areas include the East Midlands, North West England, South West England, Wales, the West Midlands and Yorkshire and Humber.

Heavy rain is possible and as much as 20 to 30 mm of rain could fall in one hour or 40 mm in two to three hours.

"Contrary to what you saw in the UK this summer."

Mr. Miall added, "This is a thunderstorm warning, so we are likely to develop quite heavy downpours as the sky really lightens this afternoon.

"This will see some heavy rains that could carry the risk of flash floods and the danger of splashing on the roads, and some difficult driving conditions, given the fact that many people can be well on weekends at the height of school holidays."
