Offenbach (dpa / lrs) – Heavy thunderstorms and temperatures up to 35 degrees Celsius determine the weather in Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland on Wednesday. In the west, the day started out clear to cloudy, while it stayed longer sunny in the east, said the German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach. The clouds will thicken from the afternoon. First individual, later regional showers and thunderstorms are possible. Local thunderstorms with hail and squalls are also to be expected. The maximum temperatures are therefore between 29 and 33 degrees Celsius, in the east 35 degrees can be reached. The thunderstorms are expected to subside on Thursday night. It cools down to 19 to 14 degrees.
According to the DWD, it will be clear to cloudy and largely dry on Thursday. The temperatures climb to 25 to 31 degrees.
