CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) – West Virginia public employees may receive 12 weeks of paid family leave under a proposal introduced Tuesday at the state house.
Kanawha Republican County Del Moore Capito said that his bill is “a reflection of the pro-family nature of our state.” T
“We never want our employees to choose between these critical first work and weeks with their children, or when a loved one is dealing with a serious health crisis,” he said.
Currently public employees can take 12 weeks family leave but are not paid during that period, according to news release.
The bill now goes to the House of Delegates committee.
