Yevgeny Kot, deputy chairman of the board of Novatek and director for LNG, may soon leave his post, Kommersant reports, citing sources. The interlocutors of the publication did not rule out other resignations. The first to write about personnel changes in Leonid Mikhelson’s company was the Gas-Father Telegram channel.
According to Kommersant, Kot’s departure may be related to difficulties with the launch of the fourth line of the Yamal LNG plant with a capacity of 0.9 million tons. Initially, it was planned to introduce it before the end of 2019, but the launch was repeatedly postponed.
According to the newspaper, the difficulties lie in the fact that the fourth line is completely built on Russian equipment according to NOVATEK’s own patented technology “Arctic cascade”, which is being used for the first time. According to the interlocutors of the publication, some “fundamental problem” prevents the transition from commissioning to industrial operation, but which one, they did not explain.
RBC sent a request to the press service of NOVATEK.
Michelson said in April that the fourth line is expected to be launched “in the next two to three weeks.” Last October, NOVATEK announced that its construction was in its final stages. The cost of the project in the company was estimated at $ 0.5 billion.
